It is now early March after so far
a good winter.
Sand Martins are just arriving at local lakes like Pugneys,Wintersett
and Swillington Ings.
Up to 8 Buzzards at a time are now seen regularly from the shop along
with Sparrowhawks and the odd Kestrel and a few Waxwings over the village.
The feeders are busy with Goldfinch,House Sparrows and the usual Tits
which include Coal. Voles, Rats and Mice are feeding below the feeders.
We are stocking Vanguard binos and scopes and also some new Hawke models.
Opticron have a large range including the excellent DBA VHD from £579
and Explorer ED models at just under £200.
Swarovski and Zeiss at the top end of the price range are still dominating
the market with the brilliant Zeiss SF, Swarovski Field Pros and CL
companions and also the Pocket range of compacts which are the best
binoculars of their type. Also we have the new Nikon Monarch HG.
Midrange is dominated by Opticron,Hawke, Vanguard and our own Delta
brand with the SL3 being a best seller.
At the lower end of the price range the Opticron Discovery and Trailfinder
and the Delta S are very good value for money products.And priced just
above these are the new Opticron Naturas which are proving to be very
At the moment at the top end of the spotting scopes are the Swarovski
ATX/STX modular systems which offer unbeatable performance.
The cheaper Swarovski ATS/STS80/65 is still proving to be really popular
the optics in these where upgraded from the earlier ATM/STM so offer
excellent value for money.
Priced a little bit lower is the new Zeiss Gavia 85 spotting scope
Mid price range is dominated by the Opticron ES80 ED.
For a cheaper scope Vanguard and Hawke are very popular.
Whilst with the small lightweight/travel scopes the new Opticron MM4
50mm and 60mm range is by far the most popular .
Breaking news is a new lightweight Opticron Traveller range along with
the new Imagics.
Also a Swarovski BTX dual eyepiece to fit the 65 85 and 95 modules this
will give both eye viewing of 30x with the 65 and 85 and 35x with the
95 objectives this will give comfortable viewing over long periods ideal
Also a Swarovski 1.7 x extension magnifier.
